Love the San Diego rooftops. Have you had a chance to go to old SD? If you can go after dark for dinner it is lovely and authentic feeling. We were there at Christmas and the only light was from thousands of candles, all the people were dressed in period costume and there was a mexican "creche" play going on!! Well worth the taxi ride.
Carrie thanks for the advice re. old town. sounds like you had a magical night there. did you get to Balboa park? I love the buildings there, though they're not as old as they look. There's a beautiful long long colonnade...I plan to get there soon to spend some time painting.
I am an artist and writer. I usually work from my home and studio on Protection Island (where I also teach painting). This year (Sept. 08-summer 09) I'm trying to keep the artist's life afloat as my husband and I take time out to sail in the Pacific.
